Homemade Wagalicious All Natural Doggie Food

Years ago I got frustrated comparing all the natural dog foods out there, trying to find a gentler food for a doggie with a sensitive-tummy.  We tried some that were way too rich in protein, some that had too many grains, some that were grain free, some that were cheap & some that were way too expensive.  And then I decided to try my hand at making some at home so I would I know what was in it & hopefully find a more economical choice in the process.  Researching the correct proportions & experimenting with a ton of different recipes, we finally hit the sweet spot for a Nutrient-Dense Homemade Doggie Food that my fur baby actually drools over!  Enjoy!

Wagalicious Homemade Doggie Food 🐾

Ingredients:
¾ Cup Brown Rice
1 Pound Ground Meat {Beef, Turkey, Chicken, Pork}
1 Bag of Frozen Vegetables {Peas & Carrots, Green Beans, Cauliflower, Zucchini}
2 Eggs
1 & ¾ Cups Water
1 tsp of Rosemary or Oregano

Instructions:
1} In a Slow-Cooker, layer in the rice, then the ground meat, then the bag of frozen veggies.
2} Make a little indentation in the center of the vegetables & then add the eggs.
3} Pour in the water around the edges of the pot, then shake the herb over the top.
4} Set the Pot on High, allowing the ingredients to cook in their layers.
5} After about 2-2&½ Hours, mix ingredients thoroughly
6} When the top of the mix starts to bubble & the rice is cooked through, approximately 3 to 3&½ Hours, turn off the pot.
7} Allow the mix to cool off for 15-20 minutes.  Once it reaches edible temperature, it's ready to be gobbled up!
8} Serve by itself or mix in with kibble.  Scoop remainder into a glass storage container & refrigerate.

Recipe Notes:
  • Mixing this in with your Doggie's Kibble will add extra vitamins & nutrients, hydration & flavor! 😋
  • We sometimes also add in any produce {that's doggie safe of course} that we didn't use during the week into the mix.  Fresh or thawed fruits or vegetables can be substituted for the frozen, just take a half hour off of the cooking time.
  • The aromas will no doubt fill the air, so if your doggie is super excited to get a taste, you can cool some off in a bowl in the freezer for 5 minutes instead of waiting 20 minutes.
  • VERY IMPORTANT!  If you do choose to switch up the vegetables or the herbs in this recipe, please ALWAYS check if they will be safe for your Doggie to eat first.  There are many, such as onions or grapes, that can be toxic for your pet.  Always do your research. 🧐

Here's a short Video to share how easy & simple this is to make at home!

Happy Wagging! 💕🐶🐾
