Are you a Soaker?
The best way to make beans your best friend is to buy them dry, then soak them overnight in water before cooking.  This causes the starches & sugars to become more digestible {& results in less flatulence!}

Don't have the time or desire to soak those beans?  No worries, Eden Brand does this for you.  They soak, then pressure cook their Garbanzo Beans along with Kombu, a seaweed that enhances that Umami, adds trace minerals, & also aids in digestion.

How to make the SMASH:

Step One:
Start with a can of Garbanzo Beans {aka Chickpeas}
Pop open the can, drain the liquid, rinse the beans in a colander, then SMASH the beans in a bowl with the back of a spoon!

Side note:
If you're time-crunched, you can just mix the beans with a sauce & eat it straight out da bowl, no smashing necessary.  But the smashing part is super fun & brings out the flavor of the beans!

Step Two:
Add your sauce.  Just be sure to take a good look at the sugar content!  BBQ, Mustard, Teriyaki, Hot Sauce..... etc.

Step Three:
Add optional toppings such as sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, nooch {nutritional yeast}, herbs like dill or parsley, taco seasoning, squeeze of lemon or lime with sea salt..... etc.  {The Eden Shake I use in this recipe is basically furikake seasoning without any sugar.}

Step Four:
Put the Smash over a bed of Leafy Greens to make a salad.
Or on some GF Bread to make a Sandie.

VOILA!  Enjoy! 😋
